Medan Journal (Day 2): Tongging

A Short Trip

Because we had spent quite some time at Sipiso-Piso Waterfall, by the time we get to Tongging it's already late in the afternoon. However, we were still very eager to at least see Tongging for ourselves before we went back to Wisma Sibayak.

It took us around 30 minutes from the waterfall to Tongging. From Berastagi, the journey outline is as follows:

Berastagi --> Kabajahe Karo --> Merek --> Sipiso-Piso --> Tongging.

Further Up. Last Pit Stop before Samosir Island.

Tongging is located at the far northern end of Danau Toba. Yup, that's right folks. You can see Danau Toba from here. What is Danau Toba you ask? You'll have to wait for my next entry! Hehe.

It's amazing how a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago formed this beautiful area. Isn't nature beautiful?

 Free as the Bird. One look and you would've mistaken it for the sea.

 Tongging is ~900m above sea level. Yup, that's Lake Toba's water, people.

Behind us lies Samosir Island, our destination tomorrow.

Alrighty, that concludes Day 2. Tomorrow we march into Danau Toba, the biggest volcanic lake in the world.

Well, not literally. But you know what I mean. Haha.
